Love Your BOOBIES!

Thank you to everyone who attended both donation classes and made donations. SUKHA hit the goal and raised $1,225!!

We Love Boobies!! Let’s save them by living a clean, healthy, toxic free life. Obviously there are some things we can’t fully control. Genetics and our environment but we can take action with preventative solutions such as diet, supplements, diet, exercise and less trips to the drug store.

The last few weeks I have been some research on our armpits and boobies and the things we can do to prevent the “C” word.

“Over 85 percent of the lymph fluid flowing from the breast drains to the armpit lymph nodes. Most of the rest drains to the nodes along the breast bone. Bras and other external tight clothing can impede flow”-Michael Schachter, MD.

If you ask any holistic women’s health Practitioner they will tell you that breast heath is a daily thing, and us women need to take it more seriously. We have so many unhealthy breast practices, from ill fitting bras to diets high in inflammatory foods and cooking oils. But no one wants to live in fear constantly right? So what can we do to help our boobies stay healthier and lymph system work well?

DILUTE and apply these three topically as often as you can:

Frankincense supports our breast heath on the cellular level, used topically or internally Frankincense has been shown to reduce instances of free radicals impacting our body, increase cellular vitality and support cellular renewal.

Clary Sage is considered the “women’s tonic herb” and it also functions as a tonic for our breasts.  Apply topically for skin support, tenderness, and circulation support.

Cypress supports normal circulation of fluids in our body. Use topically in clockwise motions aimed towards the underarms to help the lymph fluid flow and restore circulation to areas under compression from clothing.

So, for years we put deodorant on everyday, sometimes twice or three times a day not knowing exactly what harmful ingredients are in them. Here is just a little “secret” list of the toxins that may make you think about your next trip to the “drug” store when you need deodorant.

Aluminum is the ingredient in antiperspirants that actually clogs your pores and prevents sweating. Aluminum exposure has been linked with the development of Alzheimer’s disease and interferes with your estrogen levels. When your body can’t process estrogen properly, there’s a higher risk for breast and prostate cancer.

Parabens is a chemical that is used in a lot of products these days as a preservative, but it is possibly one of the most harmful additives of all. Sometimes parabens act as estrogen in your body, which disrupts hormonal balances and has been linked to breast cancer and prostate cancer

Steareths

These additives are the product of ethoxylation (weakening of harsh chemical in the manufacturing process), which simultaneously produces carcinogens and dioxanes.

Triclosan

The FDA has classified triclosan as a pesticide, yet it is in the majority of brand name deodorants. It’s used to kill bacteria in the manufacturing process, as well as when it comes in contact with your skin. When triclosan is combined with water it can also create a carcinogenic gas called chloroform.

Propylene Glycol

If used everyday, this chemical can cause damage to your central nervous system, heart and liver. It is also shown to irritate skin, especially if you have sensitive skin. Propylene glycol can be harmful at as small a percentage as 2%, yet deodorants generally have a high dose of 50% propylene glycol.

TEA and DEA

Triethanolamine (TEA) and diethanolamine (DEA) are chemicals can seep into your skin and affect your liver and kidneys. In fact, they’re so harmful that these two chemicals have already been banned from products in Europe because they are known carcinogens

It is so crazy for all these years we are buying harmful products that are advertised and marked as “clean” with a “fresh scent”.

So here’s the deal. I have tried many products that are marked natural and by hour 4 of my long day, I started to stink like a number 11 on the sub list! Until 3 weeks ago when I attended convention, purchased my kit and the first thing I tried was the new Balance deodorant from doterra. Smells amazing ALL DAY long and no chemicals!

You are Always Stronger than You Think

I have been feeling the need to re-introduce the teachers of SUKHA.

So many students at SUKHA that have been practicing for over a year now still have few doubts in minds about their yoga practice. I will start out by saying this....you are all amazing and have the ability to do whatever you want whether it's a career, relationship, a home, or a new lifestyle. You are never too old, too fat, too skinny or don't have the money. If you continue to wire your brain with negative thoughts, you will be stuck for a long time.

Today I would like to share this blog by Amy. Amy has been with me since day 1. When I first started teaching. Amy was my only student. We learned together, practiced together and shared a lot together on this yoga road. Amy doubted herself for a long time about going to teacher training. I pushed her and she did with the confidence and determination to do it. And she did. Almost three years later, here she is....

Amy Sowul is a Brielle resident and mother to two boys.

She has been an instructor at Sukha for almost three years. Her classes are a mix of strength and grace, as she creatively takes you from pose to pose. She is always looking for mindful and challenging ways to improve upon the basics, paying close attention to the transitions.

Amy is a writer, poet and nature lover. She is an employee at Barlow Flower Farm where she connects to the beauty all around her. Check out her amazing photos of her passions on her Instagram page @asowul

Class description: Mindful Power Flow

This class is not about being intermediate or advanced. It is about taking the next step, and piecing together what you already know with the things you never tried. Most importantly this class is about faith in your body and it's ability to learn new things - despite your shape or size or age. You are always stronger than you think.

How Yoga Helps Women in Midlife

A few weeks ago I received a email asking if I would post a "guest blog" for Meera Watts.

Meera Watts is a yoga teacher, entrepreneur and mom. Her writing on yoga and holistic health has appeared in Elephant Journal, CureJoy, FunTimesGuide, OMtimes and others. She’s also the founder and owner of Siddhi Yoga, a yoga teacher training school based in Singapore. Siddhi Yoga runs intensive, residential trainings in India (Rishikesh, Goa and Dharamshala), Indonesia (Bali)

Once I saw the topic and read the blog it was a no brainer. "How yoga helps women in midlife"!! Duh. How could I not? I am there. After just turning 47 years young and notice what yoga has done for me and so many of my students that are mostly around the same age. Some are younger, but that's okay because guess what girls?? Time flies and you will be "midlife" before you know it. I am so proud of all of the young men and women that get on their mats at such a young age and overly impressed by the ones who really get it and not just for the leggings and the "trend".

With that being said, it is my pleasure to post this great blog written by Meera Watts.

Going through midlife isn't easy. It's that point where you suddenly feel trapped, tired, and miserable. It's like time sucked your enthusiasm and you're left clueless about what to do with your life.

For women, midlife can be twice as challenging. This is why most of them try so hard to hide from it and avoid talking about it. They refuse to acknowledge the changes they are going through and that makes things a lot harder.

This is where yoga becomes beneficial. If you're still not doing it, here are some of the most important benefits you're missing out.

Stress management

Stress is something you can't easily avoid. Whether it's at work or at home, you're bound to experience stressful situations that can make you feel worse.

The problem with stress is that it can make your decision making and problem-solving skills dull. It can even make you physically ill.

By performing yoga on a daily basis, you'll be able to increase your feel-good hormones while lowering the levels of the stress hormone cortisol in your body. When the hormones and chemicals in your body return to their normal levels, your body will  be able to experience balance which can improve your overall health.

Improve your bodily functions

As you age, your body experiences a decline in function. This puts you at an increased risk for several illnesses, like diabetes and heart diseases.

By putting your mind and body in a relaxed state, both your blood pressure and blood sugar become lower. Even the hormones that affect the way your blood clots and heart pumps become more stable.

Better sleep

Insomnia and other sleep problems tend to get worse with age. As you constantly worry about your work, family, health, and finances, sleep becomes less and less satisfying for you. A busy work schedule can also make it hard for you to get proper sleep.

And when you fail to get enough sleep, a lot of health problems come up. Even your mood becomes affected that you become chronically grumpy. You'll find it hard to stay focused and calm, too.

Yoga has this unique way of making it easier for one to fall asleep. It can even improve the quality of sleep so you can wake up feeling well rested and rejuvenated.

Better fitness

Because of the changes women experience in their body during their midlife years, it's perfectly normal for them to feel frightened about going out and exercising. There's always the fear of getting injured or creating more harm than good.

However, contrary to what most women believe in, yoga isn't entirely bad once you reach your midlife years. Unless you have spine problems or issues with balance, it's totally safe for you to practice yoga. It's actually a great way to stay in shape, particularly if you aren’t a fan of intense workout routines.

Increases energy

Your midlife years mark the moment when most of your body processes slow down. As a result, you get tired easily and you start to lose energy. Partnered with stress, your energy levels can get worse.

There are yoga poses you can do to combat stress and improve your energy.

The Cobra Pose is one great example. It opens up 4 chakras within your body while reducing stress, tension, and fatigue. The Downward Dog, Bow Pose, Shoulder Stand, and Fish Pose are excellent options as well.

Take note that although those poses can boost your energy, they aren’t for everyone. If you aren’t sure if it’s right for you, consider consulting your doctor or yoga instructor.

In Conclusion

Yoga offers tons of benefits and most of us are already aware of that. For women in midlife, however, they are extra helpful. From enhancing their sleep quality to boosting their overall health, practicing it on a daily basis can make the process a lot less stressful and easier to cope with.

Of course, you’ll need patience and dedication before you see results. While yoga is effective, it’s still not an overnight miracle. You need to be consistent in practicing it on a daily basis.

Personal Yogis, Schedule Changes and More

I hope everyone had a great weekend and found their way to yoga wherever it may be. When you practice, please continue to really practice yoga on the mat and off. Let's have a re-cap in case some forgot shall we?

The Five Yamas of Yoga

  1. Ahimsa- the practice of non-violence which includes physical, mental, and emotional violence towards others and the self.
  2. Satya-truthfulness. urges us to live and speak our truth at all times.
  3. Asteya-NON-STEALING is best defined as not taking what is not freely given.
  4. Brahmacharya- (continence) states that when we have control over our physical impulses of excess we attain knowledge, vigor and increased energy. To break the bonds that attach us to our excesses and addictions, when we need both courage and will.
  5. Aparigraha-(non-coveting) urges us to let go of everything we do not need, possessing only as much as necessary.

Why the re-cap? Well, this weekend unfortunately our good friend, talented, gifted, brilliant, hard working, single mom; Krista Eggering who you all know from our Mala Workshops was notified that a so called "yogi" stole her intellectual property. Every word from her posts, invites and went so far as to copy the description of the work shops and used it on all social media outlets as well as her mala work. Truly heartbreaking.

Why was I notified? Well, this "yoga" decided to steal my intellectual property as well. This situation put the two of us in a rip-roaring spin. We work hard. We think. We are creative. We spend hours and hours creating. From descriptions, to posts, playlists, logos, dharmas, what ever the case may be to find out that someone just can't think for themselves. And I do not want to hear that we inspired her. Stealing is different than inspiring. She went so far and obviously did not see my logo watermarked on the photo. Silly yogi. Tricks are for kids.

Krista and I spoke, messaged each other, and were there for each other and we both did what we needed to do to calm down and remember that this will return to her.

Krista said it best. " I connected this situation to the energy of the year..being that it is an 11 year and an inner reflection year....we were her mirror."

And I will add; that mirror has cracked.

So, this situation has been resolved and this WILL NEVER happen again with this "yogi".

What a great way to end a emotional week! Sunday's class was full of light and POSITIVE energy. I am proud to say, almost one year and I have not yet had to sage the studio after class!!! Thank you for always coming to class smiling, happy, not complaining, not demanding, no criticizing and always spreading positive vibes.

Yesterday's Wisdom, Tomorrow's Destiny

I am not sure why it has taken me so long to write, promote and share about what I want to share with all of you. Maybe because I have done this for years, see so many people doing it, receiving emails from people asking me to help them promote the company they are selling for. Directly or indirectly. (Directly is always best)

I get it. I have been with many direct sales companies before. It is not easy and it certainly becomes overwhelming and can be slightly annoying. Party this, indirect schemes, and people maybe coming to your place of business just to get in front of groups of people to see how it can benefit them.

So here's the deal, I think direct sales is awesome. I started with a skin care line back in 2006 before I got divorced. I needed to start saving money and to be honest I needed to get out of the house. I was passionate about the products. I worked hard to make it work. And it did. I was passionate, not pushy and very honest.

A few years ago when I started my yoga practice, I tried essential oils. For myself and to share with my students. I have been hooked every since. I place a drop on my students third eye before class, maybe a foot massage, and a cold wash cloth after class with lavender. I did this to make my students feel good. I never promoted. Never announced. Never asked if anyone was interested in buying or selling. I just wanted my students to feel as good as I do when experiencing essential oils. If they asked, I told them.

Fast forward to present day. After learning more and more and healing with essential oils; it is time to really share the crap out of these life changing oils.

Starting with lavender for sleeping, peppermint for congestion and my sons smelly sneakers, lemon for my water to oregano oil for inflammation of my pluera. Not to mention cooking, sore muscles, fine lines and wrinkles, cleaning the house, hormone balance and diffusing. The list is long.

Essential Oils-The Missing Link in Modern Medicine

Plants not only play a vital role in the ecological balance of our planet, but they have also been intimately linked to the phyiscal, emotional, and spiritual well-being of mankind since the beginning of time.

The plant kingdom continues to be the subject of an enormous amount of research and discovery. Most often prescription drugs are based on naturally occurring compounds from plants. Each year millions of dollars are allocated to private labs and universities that are searching for new therapeutic compounds that lie undiscovered in the bark, roots, flowers, seeds, and foliage of jungle canopies; river bottoms; forests; hillsides; and vast wilderness regions throughout the world.

Essential oils and plant extracts have been woven into history since the beginning of time and are considered by many the missing link in modern medicine.  They have been used medicinally to kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses and to combat insect, bug and snake bites in addition to treating all kinds of mysterious maladies.  Oils and extracts stimulate tissue and nerve regeneration.

Essential oils also provide exquisite fragrances to balance mood, lift spirits, dispel negative emotions and create a romantic atmosphere.

This is not a trend my friends.

Essential oils are know as Man's First Medicine! From ancient writings and traditions, it seems that aromatics were used for religious rituals, the treatment of illness and other physical and spitiutal needs, They say that the people of ancient times had a greater understanding of esstial oils than we have today.

The reintroduction of essential oils into modern medicine first began during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  During World War 1, the use of aromatic essences in civilian and military hospitals became widespread. Essential oils were used extensively for their antibacterial and wound-healing properties and developed several kinds of aromatic ointments.

A few more little pieces of information regarding essential oils vs pharmaceutical drugs that I would like to share before I finish. (my brother may not like this) ha ha 25 plus at J & J

They both have different effects on the body. Drugs usually infiltrate our bodies while having a toxic effect but essential oils on the other hand have a detoxifying effect. Pharm drugs are not really able to provide clear information for receptor sites while oils actually perform the right operations for the receptors.  Drugs usually don't provide any coverage for the immune system while oils are constantly trying to provide strength. For example, antibiotics will battle both good and bad bacteria, but essential oils will only battle the bad ones, allowing our body to maintain a strong immune system.

The information on essential oils is never ending. There is so much out there to read on these oils. It is truly amazing.

Doterra oils are carefully and thoroughly tested using the strict CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade quality protocol. If you are experienced with essential oils, you will immediately recognize the superior quality standard for safe, purely effective therapeutic-grade doterra essential oils.

Before I stop writing; I want to share with you my favorite oils.

Frankincense-Part of my skin care!!! Emotional and hormonal balance, healthy immune system, blend it and diffuse it for a peaceful and spiritual environment.

Sleep!!- Lavender for sleep and dark circles, and tired, puffy eyes.

Peppermint-Stomach aches, headaches, respiratory, tight and sore muscles, bad breathe.

Oregano- Sinus, arthritis, inflammation, prevents infections, anti-fungal

Geranium Oil- SKIN!!! Amzing, clear, beautiful, young skin!!! Balances hormones, alleviates effects of menopause.

Lemon- Respiratory, household cleaner, add to water to support healthy respiratory function

Wild Orange- Circulatory stimulant, insomnia, fluid retention, wrinkles and fine lines, household cleaner

Rosemary-Liver-protector, anti-cancer, mental clarity, anti fungal, anti bacterial

Ylang Ylang-  HORMONES!! Balances male-female energies, enhances spiritual attunement, combats anger and low self-esteem, hair loss

Clove- anti-inflammatory, sore throat, stomach issues, sinus and lungs, toothaches, acne, numbs pain (waxing)

Ginger-Muscular aches, arthritis, digestive aid, congestion

I have so many more and I will be posting often. I always say that I share what I believe in; so that is what I am going to do. We are not getting any younger, take care of your body the natural way. Who wants to look their age? Who wants to look their age without spending a shit load of money on expensive skin care products? Less is more in my opinion. I don't remember the last time I really wore makeup. Who needs it? Luckily, not me at 46 1/2. Maybe some mascara. Some is genetics and most is self care. I use coconut oil mixed with frankincense or geranium. Two drops. A bottle lasts a very long time. Use it on your face, diffuse it, drink it, clean with it. So many uses for these oils for these oils without breaking the bank because they have multiple uses. So you can trash your toxic household cleaners, stop wasting money on spices that will eventually go bad and stop dropping big bucks on moisturizer when you can buy a tub a coconut oil. People say "It's so greasy and doesn't absorb". Well, are you putting it on your skin that needs to be exfoliated??? DRY BRUSH prior. Your face and your entire body. Dry brushing helps shed dead skin cells and encourages new cell renewal. By one for the face and one for your body. (CVS or Rite Aid) Then you can apply the oils on your face for smoother, brighter, younger looking skin. Or you can make your own exfoliator using coconut oil, sugar and essential oils.

Coconut oil uses are endless as well!!! Cooking, baking, and cleaning. You will save money.

Celery Juice, No Gluten (I learned the hard way), Essential Oils, Coconut Oil, Yoga, Good Books, Good, loyal, trustworthy friends, healthy, happy, independent, smart kids and a roof over my head,  and running water is all I need. My great grandmother lived until 96, two aunts passed at 104 and 105 with one still living. Their secret? OIL!!!! Ha ha and homemade pasta!!!

Hot or Not

Hot or Not???

Hot or Not is a rating dating site that allows users to rate the attractiveness  of photos submitted voluntarily by others. Yes, it's a dating site. Luckily, I am not writing about such a disgusting dating site. Let's create a site called "Beauty Within" having men and women search for qualities such as loyalty, honesty, compassion, independence, confidence, joy, loving, and all the imperfections that may come with a truly beautiful person. Maybe no photos? Just a nice "get to know you" PHONE CONVERSATION! No swiping. No scrolling. Just a bio.

Luckily, I have no need for that crap anymore.

Now that I have your attention; this blog is a re-post that I would like to share with all of you that have called and asked about the safe temperature to practice yoga.

Everyone has their personal preference of course. Many people love to sweat to ensure they are getting a great workout. But let's also remember the true meaning of yoga and why we come on our mats in the first place. Again, everyone practices for different reasons. It doesn't matter where you practice, with who, how cold, how hot, what outfit you wear. As long as you practice. On the mat and off. I speak of practicing yoga off the mat often; almost every day. I will recap it briefly before I share the article with you.

Do you rock your crow pose or handstand? Awesome. You are strong. You have amazing upper body strength. Are you mentally and emotionally strong? How do you deal with the roadblocks in life? Being mentally strong is not about acting like a tough ass. It is about being aware of your emotions and learning from painful experiences. We have all been through crap it's about how we deal and how we turn it into a life lesson.

Do you sit quietly in easy seat during meditation with a clear mind? It is hard for many. This may be the toughest. Are you present at home? At work? Are you a good listener? Or you scrolling through Instagram at dinner? Or when someone is talking to you, you are hardly paying attention because you are thinking of something else. Be present. Off the mat.

Do you leave yoga class feeling so thankful for the space, your teacher and your body for rocking a new bind? Leave class and make a call to your boyfriend, mom, sister, friend, teacher, children for how thankful you are to have them in your life. Write a note. Whatever it is, just do it.

During your time  in class, you are so kind to your body. You are doing the body and mind amazing good. You gently get into new poses to prevent injury, you focus on your breathe through every pose, inhaling and exhaling.. You are (hopefully) kind to the teacher, and your fellow yogis. How do you treat others and yourself when you leave class? Do you go home and drink a bottle of wine and eat a pint of ice cream? Do you call a friend and start talking trash and gossiping? Be kind to others and to yourself off the mat.

You are so disciplined in your practice. You use straps or blocks, you go at your own pace and you listen to the teacher who is guiding you and your body. Off the mat; are you working in a disciplined matter at home and work? Are you working towards what you want in life? Your goals and dreams? Or do you procrastinate?

I think you get it. That was the scaled down version in English. For more on taking yoga off the mat read The Yoga Sutras. The Yamas and Niyamas. How we show up on our mats and off.

Turns out, hot yoga isn’t more effective than yoga at room temperature

By: Allasandra Milato

Why put yourself through an hour-long session in 90 degrees for this?

There may be no need to put yourself in a stifling 100 degrees for a hot yoga session.

Bikram yoga, also known as hot yoga, involves 26 positions usually done in a room of 90 or 100 degrees. Part of the allure is that the heat opens up the muscles faster than room temperature and can release toxins from the body, but new research from Texas State University and the University of Texas at Austin found it’s no more effective than the latter.

Yoga at room temperature does exactly the same thing as hot yoga, the researchers found. It reduces the risk of heart disease and can delay atherosclerosis, a disease where plaque builds up in arteries and can result in a heart attack or stroke. Half of the Bikram yoga class was spent in standing positions, which requires balancing on one leg and can be more taxing than floor positions, the research said.

They looked at 80 participants enrolled and randomly assigned to three study groups — heated room, room at regular temperature and a control group — and asked the participants to attend three Bikram yoga classes a week for three months.

Why avoid hot yoga in favor of regular yoga? There are additional risks associated with hot yoga. People can suffer from heat-related illnesses, according to a separate study from 2015 sponsored by the American Council on Exercise. A group of 20 healthy men and women practiced Bikram yoga in a 105-degree room for 90 minutes after swallowing a temperature sensor and wearing a heart rate monitor.

The researchers found the participants’ body temperatures rose to 103 degrees, one degree away from potentially suffering from heat stroke. The average heart rate for the men was 80% and the women’s was 72%. Sweating during hot yoga doesn’t do enough to cool the body down, the researchers said.

But there may be some benefits to hot yoga. It can improve “vascular endothelial function” or thinning blood vessels in middle-aged and older adults in a relatively short time period, according to a 2016 study from the University of Texas and published in Medicine & Science in Sports and Exercise. “Bikram yoga may be effective as a secondary preventative measure in reversing endothelial dysfunction in middle-aged and older adults who are at risk of developing vascular disease.”

If you’re set on participating in a hot yoga class, there are ways to help mitigate any health risks. Drink 80 ounces of water the day before, and 16 ounces of water two hours before a class. After class, refresh by drinking water with lemon or having dark leafy green vegetables or water-heavy fruits like watermelons and cucumbers. Stretch before and after sessions and use a towel during the class, not just to pat down sweat but also to dry off your mat and prevent falling.

Again, practice, practice, practice. Hot or Not! It's your practice. Just do it. On the mat and off.

Have a great weekend!

Leaders and Followers

"The one who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd.

The one who walks alone, is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been"-Albert Einstein

There are two parts to this blog about being a leader and not a follower and followers, likes, and friends on social media. It is a very broad topic.

That seems to be a word that comes up often these days. Followers.

How many do you have on Instagram  and Facebook? Does it even matter? Does it define who you are as a person or as a business? Are these followers paid for? Are you the one buying them? Are they even relevant to you or your business?

We are in a world of friends, followers, and fans through a device for our own personal agenda.

Don't get me wrong,  social media is a great way of connecting with old friends and making new ones and for a business, well; it is a must.  All businesses should be on all social media outlets having followers that pertain to your business in your PMA. If you are in a business where you can sell all over the world; get it out there!!! Or if you are looking to get famous; good luck.

What is more important, 10k followers or 100 that will actually engage with you or your business?

Teens are obsessed and adults; maybe even more so.

A recent study found that one in five people say they feel depressed as a result of using social media due to stress of constantly monitoring status updates, likes, followers and people presenting MOST LIKELY a false picture of lives to the online community.

The last few months, I have been talking to people and running analytics on my posts and what I am finding is very interesting.

I post. For SUKHA and pictures of my kids and life. I enjoy sharing. Some get 3 likes, some 103. The blogs that get 3 likes, have actually been read by 116 people with over 4,000 visitors to my website in a month. People silently scroll, read and will bring it to my attention in person, but do not hit the like button. Why?

I found the answers from online sources and some personally.

1. I don't like it because you don't follow me back. (grow up)

2 .I don't like it because you don't like my posts. (grow up)

3. I don't like it because it doesn't have more than 20 likes in 5 seconds (grow up)

4. I don't like it because I don't want you to know that I am creeping on your shit at 4:00 am. (gross)

5. I don't like it because I am jealous. (self confidence issues)

6. I don't like it because my BF or GF would be mad. (Be confident in your relationship)

7. I don't like it because other people can see what I like. (Who cares)

8. I don't like it because liking is no way to communicate. (Then send a message or a text or tell in person) I prefer this!! :)

9. I don't like it because I don't like you. (Then please don't follow me)

10. I don't like it because I am not looking at my device 24/7 and the way the algorithm works I may not see your post for 2 days. Don't get yourself in a tizzy. (my answer)

So my friends, I have deleted Facebook off of my phone and is only on my Ipad. I post for SUKHA and on my personal page when I have something to share and will like and comment when I have my ipad. Please do not take it personally.

Social Media is amazing. It brings people together and is great for businesses.

Don't let it consume you, or make you sad or angry and most importantly, don't let it happen to your children.

Now; back to the real reason for this post.

Are you happy to follow the lead of other people or do you make your own decisions and make things happen by doing your own thing and leading?

We teach our children this but are we doing the same?

Do you stand up or sit back silently and stay put?

Don't be frightened by the responsibility to stand up and take the lead and make your own decisions.

Let's not spend our lives hiding behind a curtain. Follow your heart and go in the direction YOU WANT TO GO.

If you feel stuck being a follower, you can still lead by inspiring others with your words and actions and show other how to grow.

Continue on your path with love, kindness, determination and live from your heart.

Bottom line....

Who cares about how many followers or likes.

Be a leader with confidence, knowledge, respect, communication and you will fly.

xoxo

SUKHA "The Non-Intimidating" Yoga Studio Turns 2

Happy Birthday SUKHA and to everyone who has been along on this amazing ride.

Two years.

Two years of tears, fears, singing and dancing.

Two years of falling, flying, laughing and crying

Two years of fun

Good days and not so good days.

We made friends that are now family.

Some lost family and friends unexpectedly. We were present. On the mat and off. We walked and talked.

We had broken hearts, but we  flowed to mend them.

Pub crawls and paddle boards.

Concerts and Yards.

Funny guest dharmas and ones that made the tears roll

Music.....Oh the music

Jokes....OH MY....THE JOKES

The classes started with me and a shy blonde. We spoke, we flowed, we practiced and flew like eagles, grew like trees and blossomed like  two beautiful flowers. (I won't get to descriptive on the flowers. I will leave that up to her)

First it was one. Then it was three (+ me). Amy, Alison, Michelle and me. We flew and grew. And so did the classes. As my friends shared and spoke of this place in a kindergarten classroom, so did the family. Day by day.

To some it was not a "real" yoga studio. For many, it is more than that.

It started small. With no "marketing scheme" in mind. No copying or mimicking. Just being me.

How? Let me tell you.

I followed MY heart. How I felt. How I wanted to teach. How yoga made me feel walking in to a studio. No clicks. No whispering. No silence. No judging. Good music and talking about life. Real life.

There are things you just can not duplicate. You can write it, post it, and attempt it. If you are not yourself, it may not work so take note.

My heart lead me to a classroom and a amazing space in Brick Township. One vision, a big heart and AMAZING people.

Heart, drive, passion and  people that believed in me.

Thank you to the "friends" that said I could never do it. And the ones that don't talk to me anymore. You continue to motivate me everyday.

Happy Birthday my friends and family.

Thank you for listening.

Thank you for understanding when I mess up.

Thank you for wiping the tears.

Thank you your continued support.

Thank you for making me smile.

Thank you for ALWAYS having my back.

Thank you for being your TRUE authentic self.

Thank you for trusting me and the amazing teachers at SUKHA.

You all hold a special place in my heart. You are all doing so great with your practice. Keep it up. This world needs more people like you. Compassionate, kind, mindful, gentle, disciplined, aware and enlightened.

You are not just practicing when you are in a pose, you're practicing when you delete crappy people out of your life so your mental energy is not consumed by hating or judging and can be directed to more beautiful and useful things, like becoming the amazing person you already are.

Yoga is life changing.

Yoga changes your body.

Yoga changes your mind.

Yoga changes your emotions.

Yoga changes your attitude.

Yoga changes your life.

It has certainly changed mine.

Here's to many more years on the mat and off.

Thank you my friends.

More AMAZING news to come.
