A note to all mothersRead More
I shared this last week on Instagram and decided to share it on my blog and add a few things to the list.
This month we celebrate Valentine’s Day, yes another holiday created by Hallmark but there is history behind the holiday of roses, candy, expensive dinners, or gifts depending on who your partner is. There are so many stories about Saint Valentine and the meaning behind this holiday of love. I won’t get into the history, just GOOGLE it!
What does love mean to me? This question is both easy and challenging. Here goes the babbling:
Love is a feeling.
Love is bigger than everyone of us.
Love is not only romantic.
Love helps us live and grow.
Love protects and connects.
We can’t survive without it.
Love at first sight is looking at your new born baby.
Love is guiding, teaching, protecting, practicing and learning.
Love is silence.
Love is loud.
Love is making sacrifices.
Love is giving and receiving.
Love is human.
Love is not cruel or mean.
Love is not only about making it.
So many are wanting, seeking and fighting over it.
Look no further than within yourself.
Love is accepting.
Love is respect.
Love is gratitude.
Love is not hurtful or manipulation.
Love is truth.
Love is without ego.
Love is passion for what sets your soul on fire.
Love is a state of being.
Love is our dreams.
Love is our actions.
Love shouldn’t hurt.
Love should be equal.
Love is skinny, fat, short, tall, black, white and every color of the rainbow.
Love is life and life is love.
The strongest love we will ever know is inside of you.
The strongest love I have ever felt is being a mom. The kind of love that can make your heart cry when they are sad or sick. Struggling and confused. The “what if’s” that keeps us up all night.
This love is the strongest.
The strength that keeps me going. The drive, passion, and sacrifices is all because of the love for my kids. This is love. This is the strongest love I have ever known. It was love at first sight. 💕
Now for the other “things” I love
I love teaching yoga to ALL levels, shapes and sizes
I love how yoga has changed my life and watching it transform other lives
I love authentic people
I love essential oils and how just a few drops from nature can heal
I love flannel shirts
I love dark chocolate
I now love gluten free pasta
I love coffee enemas
I love celery juice and how it makes me feel. The Medical Medium is a genius
I love motivational quotes
I love podcasts
I love Oprah
I love Eckhart Tolle and Wayne Dyer
I love reading and writing. (who would have thought. I once couldn't stand either)
I love Pink Himalayan Sea Salt Baths
I love alone time
I love The WIZARD OF OZ (Happy Anniversary)
I love my life and everything from the past that has shaped me into who I am today.
I love that I have bad days and good ones.
I love that I am continuing to learn everyday.
I love that I can share these experiences with people who are willing to learn.
There will be a part 3!!! The list is LONG
“Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else”-Judy Garland
Being authentic is being 100% yourself always but it doesn’t always come easy and it takes daily work.. Deep, inner work. Start by stop comparing yourselves to other people. Be the best you ALWAYS and start by choosing yourself. When you start the work you begin to be your truest version of yourself, you will find peace and you will no longer be a second rate version of someone else.
When we speak authentically we begin to live a life of passion, fulfillment and joy.
It’s hard work digging deep to figure out who you really are and speaking your truth. We have all been there. Begin by taking the steps to see who you really are. Are you more like Mrs. Jones next door that you have been keeping up with for years? Or are you super competitive at the office, the gym, yoga studios and other social settings where you will try to do what the others are doing for that recognition? Is this who you are? Are you in an unhealthy/unhappy relationship or marriage, but feel bad speaking your truth? Are you living a lie? Are you leading or following?
Free your mind, set your voice free. It is healing and feels good.
It took me years and I am still digging. Sometimes, I don’t like what I find, but I am a work in progress every day.
When I started teaching yoga three years ago and writing dharmas, Putting my thoughts and stories on paper and sharing with my class felt great. Then the blogging started shortly after, and that was even more healing. Journaling found it’s place in the line up and now I am authentically speaking on my podcast.
Authentically Speaking is another tool for me to share my stories and have people near and far share theirs. Real people, who inspire others, have a story they would like to share to help themselves and help others along the way. Men and Women who are learning, practicing, sharing and teaching.
So far on Authentically Speaking you have listened to ,a writer, traveler, and hopeless romantic share his story about healing after heartbreak through writing and finally speaking it out loud. A teen with type one Diabetes inspiring others how to live with it and not to be ashamed. A Creative Designer who overcame her fears, and loss of her mother at 15 years old and said she is now “FREE” after authentically speaking.
Someone recently asked how I was choosing my guests. I am asking authentic men and women who live their lives authentically, inspire others, who have a story to share that will help people who may be going through similar situations. From divorce to sports. Living with a broken heart or trying to mend one.
The next two months on Authentically Speaking will be inspiring and educational.
A single mom who left her 9 to 5 job to follow her dream.
A resilient, strong, principal, author and LGBTQ Advocate who authentically speaks about being gay, marriage, raising kids and the curricullum that is sitting on the Governor’s desk.
A holistic health coach who authentically speaks about hormone health and helping women all over the country using natures gifts.
A Spiritual Healer who left her corporate job to create beautiful healing tools and sharing her gifts authentically.
A role model for athletes who is so grateful to impact young men on the field and off and building a quality life of his own.
A Doctor with an insatiable thirst for learning and helping those in pain.
A Global Wanderer who is filling pages with stories of seas she has sailed, miles she has walked and the beautiful blue skies she has flown.
A couple who has overcome addiction, cancer, and together making an impact by helping others.
A mom spreading awareness to all the Big Hearts, so the Little Broken Hearts can be mended.
A strong mom with a strong family and supportive community with a SUPER STRONG baby girl who is fighting everyday against Hurlers Syndrome.
This is only a taste of the guest line up.
With so many more topics and genuine people who have inspirational stories to share authentically. Stay tuned as we learn, share and heal as we speak our truth.
Are you learning, sharing, practicing, teaching and inspiring others authentically? Share your story by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to possibly have a chance to be a guest.
Happy New Year everyone!!
As we said goodbye to another year last night, my hope is that everyone is all geared up for 2019.
Every New Year is a time for growth. The years that have past were all learning experiences and any experiences either good or bad were all lessons. Every lesson makes us stronger, heals us and allows us to be ready for the years to come.
2018 started off spending 10 days with my children and parents in Florida. Kelsey knocked swimming with Manatees off her bucket list, went to Spain and was indicted in the Spanish National Honor Society. Patrick had a great year of sports winning the Triple Crown in Soccer, Baseball and Basketball, first time in pads on the football field with a few touchdowns, and some amazing plays and made the high school basketball team.
I am one proud mom and all I hope for in 2019 and going forward is that they continue to work hard and play hard. (on the field that is) My advice now and always, don’t follow the crowds. Study hard because the parties and the friends won’t last forever. Make yourself the number one priority. Be you always. Continue to learn. Create. Inspire. Lead.
For Valentine’s Day Matt & I took a much needed trip to Antigua. Relaxation and much needed solo time. We met an amazing new friend, connected with nature and each other.
2018 was a year of learning, writing, growing, detoxing and healing. Detoxing the body and removing toxic people from my life.
Finding stillness, and living in the NOW. Setting boundaries and sticking to them.
Hiking in Utah as I continued my education about Nature’s Gifts.
Thank you 2018! You brought me peace, joy, clean living, a voice, knowledge and wisdom. You opened my eyes to many things. I am grateful to you. It was a magical year.
As I started my intentions and plans for 2019 early, I took speaking and writing to a whole new level with Authentically Speaking; a new podcast where I will be sharing my stories as well as guests who will share theirs. You can subscribe to the channel on iTunes, Spotify, Google Podcasts and Anchor.
What are your plans? Intentions?
Be sure not to set goals or resolutions to fix problems. Don’t make it for just one year. Make it for the next two to five. Set goals. Not tasks.
Try something for 20 days. Then it becomes a habit. Create daily habits that make you feel good. How good do you want to feel? Are you taking care of your body? What brings you joy? What will get you there? When do you feel good? When do you feel like shit? Think about it. What people, places and things make you feel good and what people, places and things make you feel like shit?
“Celebrate You. If it doesn’t bring you joy in 2019, get rid of it”-Denise Casagrande Authentically Speaking
This upcoming year and all to come is going to be great!! I have a vision. Do you? What do you want to see? Close your eyes and vision it.
I want to thank everyone who made my 2018 special. I have met amazing people locally and across the globe and I look forward to meeting more authentic people who are on the same path.
Cheers to you and many great years ahead.
Celebrate You. 100% authentically you.
Happy New Year!
