Piles and piles of books, notebooks, and quotes cover the left side of my bed. Inspirational books, yoga philosophy books, notebooks with my dharma talks and post it notes and random pieces of paper with ideas, and lots of thoughts.
I am not the neatest person. I don't share a room or a bed.
I don't make my bed perfectly everyday and it is rare there is nothing on top of it. Books, notes, more books and maybe a random pair of yoga pants.
For a while now, Matt keeps telling me about a book. "Make Your Bed"-Little Things That Can Change Your Life...And Maybe The World.
START BY MAKING YOUR BED
Why am I sharing this with you?
Well, if we all do something small to help others, we can eventually change the world.
Here is a few pieces of Admiral William McRavens (Author of Make Your Bed) Commencement Speech from Mat 17, 2014:
"What starts here changes the world"
"There are almost eight thousand students graduating from the University of Texas.
"The average American will meet ten thousand people in their lifetime. That's a lot of folks. But, if every one of you changed the lives of just ten people, and each one of those folks changed the lives of another ten people-just ten-then in five generations-125 years, this class will have changed the lives of 800 million people. Think of it:over twice the population of the United States. Go one more generation and you can change the population of the world. If you think it's hard to change the lives of ten people, change their lives forever, you're wrong"-William McRaven
That is just a part of his speech and the book.
Let's start here my friends. In our own back yard.
Joseph Stanek; is a 12 year old boy from Wall, NJ. His mother Lyn is the founder of Big Hearts to Little Hearts.
Joseph was born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome. He underwent two heart surgeries and now functions on a single ventricle. Although he lives an almost normal life, all single ventricles will fail at some point, and the only option available at this time is a heart transplant, which is dangerous and complicated. There is research being undertaken that seeks to create an artificial pump, which would actually repair Joseph's "broken heart" and make it function like a normal one giving him a chance to have a normal life expectancy. The research has slowed because of lack of funding.

"Field of Dreams"
Nope. I am not talking about the awesome baseball movie.
I am talking about a complex. A complex where children and adults with special needs will have a place where they can feel normal.
They have the land, but there is much work left to be done for this dream to become a reality.
A baseball field, a basketball court and mini golf. All the things that our children love to do. And they can. But children with disabilities are unable to.
Let's help make this dream come true!
We all love fitness, music and fun!
